with a black and white picture for baby to look at. We then talk about the picture to baby.
Next, we may sing a song or do a nursery rhyme about the picture.
Babies learn so much from listening to people talk who talk to them, read to them, sing to them or tell them rhymes.
Even if babies don’t understand yet what you’re saying they are still learning and listening, by spending quality time each day with the babies in your care using our fun activities is a great way to help baby to learn to develop his language and social skills.
Our program offers simple exercise along with tummy time activities that helps the little ones to improve their gross motor skills
These activities will help babies to develop their muscles and begin to roll over, sit up and crawl much earlier than babies that don’t have tummy time.
Babies talk by cooing and gurgling to communicate with us. We should coo back to baby to let him know we hear him. We should encourage these sounds by cooing back, by mimicking baby!
Tummy time activities for babies are important for physical development. Talk to baby while she is having tummy time to help her in her language development and social-emotional development
You will want a baby mat such as a playpen mat for baby to lay on. Place the mat on the floor and plop down beside baby so the both of you can together. Be sure to make lots of close eye contact with baby and talk to baby, talk to her about what you are doing,
using a soft voice that is interesting and comforting even if baby does not yet understand the words.
It may be more comfy for baby to lay down for tummy time on the floor on a large baby. Then you can roll up a towel and place the rolled up towel under his upper chest with his arms over the towel. Stay beside baby at all times and make sure he is enjoying his tummy time, place toys nearby for him to grab, get down low so you are face to face with baby and talk to him.
Gently wiggle your fingers over baby’s arms and legs as you tell him a nursery rhyme, pick him up and hug him and
let him know that you are so happy to be able to spend this time with him.
Do you have more than one baby? If you are watching two or more babies make sure they all feel they are being talked to and cared for. Be sure to play them very close to you on the
floor on thick baby mats such as playpen or pack and play mats. Talk to the babies using their names and encourage them to coo back to you. As one becomes fussy pick him up and talk to him and comfort him, be sure to hug the babies throughout the day and talk to them lovingly as you make close eye contact.
Make sure to do tummy time each day you can easily place baby on his tummy across your lap for a few minutes each day. Begin tummy time as soon as baby can lift his head up and hold it up for a few seconds.
Be sure to do this when baby is in awake and alert and ready to play. As baby gets better at tummy time soon you can lay him down on his tummy on a thick baby pad on the floor to help him develop strong head, neck and shoulder muscles.
You should place some baby toys within his reach.
Please remember never to leave baby unattended during tummy time. If baby becomes fussy during tummy time just pick him up and comfort him and then try another activity.
