Day 4
Circle Time:
Match Up The Bats
Story: Print out the story "Sleepy Animals" onto card stock paper and place into plastic sheet protectors and then tie them together securely to make a book, or place into a 3-ring folder to make a book, or place into a presentation book. Read the story to the children.
You will need the sleepy animals story file, cardstock paper and plastic sheet protectors, bat color match up file, sturdy plastic adhesive hooks (large ones), sturdy medium sized box, packing tape or clear contact paper, scissors and hole punch (teacher only).
Activity: Place all the bat cards into a small cloth bag or pillowcase and have the children take turns picking a bat from the bag, see if they can tell you the color of the bat that they picked, and then have them match up the bat to the same colored bat on the box, have them place the bat onto the hook that is directly under the matching bat.
Directions for making box: Directions will be in lesson plans (after purchase).
Song/Rhyme:
Two Little Bats
Adapted from two little black birds
Two little bats sitting on a hill.
(Hold up your index finger on each hand.)
One named Jack and one named Jill.
(Wiggle one index finger and then the other)
Fly away Jack. Fly away Jill.
(Pretend to fly one hand behind your back and then the other. Now both hands are behind your back hidden.)
Fly back Jack. Fly back Jill.
(Pretend to fly one hand back, and then fly back the other hand)
Repeat.
Extra option: Print out two small bats to use with the poem above. As you recite the poem hold up the bats and move them around to the actions of the poem above.
Art Time:
The Bat Sleeps Upside Down!
You will need: Flimsy paper plate (one per child) brown tempera paint, bat file, white cardstock paper and crayons
Give each child one flimsy paper plate and have them paint it brown (cave). Set the paper plates aside to dry.
Have the children color the bat. After the paper plates dry have the children glue their bat upside down onto the cave so the bat can hibernate in the cave. Teacher will fold the wings onto the bat, and have the children glue just the back of the bat, not his wings, to the caves wall; the children can unfold the bats wings and then fold them up again.
You may want to cover the bat with clear contact paper to make it durable before gluing him to the paper plate (cave).
Learning Time:
Bat Color Match Up
You will need: Bats from circle time, extra large pom–poms (red, blue, yellow and brown), and four sturdy plastic bowls that are red, yellow, blue and brown.
Print out the bats color match up file, you will need four bats from this file, you will need one of the bags that is red, one that is blue, one that is yellow and one that his brown and tape each of the bats to a bowl that is the same color as the bat or tape them to a paper bowl and paint the bowl the color that the bat is or tape the bats to a paper plate and cut out circles from construction paper and tape to the paper plates to match the same color as the bats (red, blue, yellow and brown)
You will need extra large pom–poms that are red, yellow, blue and brown.
Place all the pom–poms into a small cloth bag and have the children take turns picking one pom–pom from the bag and see if they can tell you which color they are holding, then have them match the pom–pom to the bat by color, have them place the pom–pom into the bowl that is the same color as the pompom they are holding.
Letter/Number Time:
Sort The Number 5
You will need: 2 or 3 decks of playing cards, you will need all the number 5’s in the deck, place them all upside down onto the floor and have the children take turns picking one of the cards from the floor and sorting it to the black plate or the red plate.
You will need two paper plates, and a piece of black construction paper and red construction paper, turn the paper plates upside down onto the paper, trace around the paper plates and cut out one red circle and one black circle, tape the red circle to one paper plate and the black circle to the other paper plate, tape the circles to the paper plates.
Have the children sort the playing cards by color, have them place the red number 5’s onto the red circle and the black number 5’s onto the black circle. Be sure to mention the number 5 and the color red or the color black often to help them to learn the number 5 and the colors black and red.
Special Activity:
Play Dough Cookies
You will need : Play dough (any color), round plastic cookie cutters or sturdy plastic biscuit cutters, small wooden rolling pins or sturdy toy rolling pins, sturdy plastic spatula and small metal pans, toy dishes to put the cookies onto, etc.
Show the children how to roll out the play dough and how to push in the cookie cutter into the play dough to make a circle cookie, show them how to remove the cookie from the play dough with a plastic spatula or they can pick them up and lay the cookies onto a toy plate or onto a small toy pan to pretend to bake the cookies.
If you don't have cookie cutters you can use sturdy plastic or metal jar covers from peanut butter jars, mayo jars, or you can use small sturdy plastic cups or other round items to be cookie cutters.

Testimonials
I have been using this curriculum for the past five years. It is truly fabulous! My children are learning so much and are having so much fun. It is so great to have stories and rhymes incorporated with each day's lesson. I love the weekly Thematic units and so do my Parents. The Theme poster's are great to put on your Parent Bulletin Board.
You do have to print out the pintables but the price is so reasonable that it is worth it. Other programs that I have looked into that send you everything already printed out are very expensive. It is worth taking a few minutes to print out what you need for your daily lesson, plus you can use these lessons over and over again, year to year.
I have just started using the infant curriculum and I love it and so do my infants and parents. I cannot imagine running my program without this wonderful curriculum. I hope you guys are around for a long time to come.
Susan – Dallas, Texas
I have been purchasing your curriculum for a few months now and the kids love the program. I just wanted to say "Thanks for sharing your work with us"
